    Angry

ust to dispel any facts/opinions that anybody has with JRSC superchargers,
they will not pass VA emissions sniffers without some work. I know this for
a fact as of yesterday. I went for my emissions test and passed the first
test easily because he never initiated the supercharger and always ran off
the supercharger bypass. However on the accelerating up to 25 mph test the
mechanic did push the gas in too far and put the supercharger under "load"
which engaged my supercharger and my auxiliary fuel pump which dumped a ton
more fuel into the engine and blew the emissions sniffer right the hell
away. The NOS levels were too high going from 25 mph on up.

Things that I'm going to try:
1: Adding octane booster and bringing the fuel curves down significantly with my Super AFC.
2: Using a zip tie and locking off the bypass so that my supercharger never
    spools up.
3: Anyone know a person who will get me to pass?
4: Last resort: bumping the timing down.

Anyway crossing my fingers just figured that I would give you a heads up
that the JRSC does not pass a VA emissions inspection in stock trim.

My setup: AEM intake, DC Sports headers, RSR exhaust, Super AFC (tuned to zero before the test) new plugs, wires added just before the test, oil change every 3,000 miles and a 60,000 done 1 month ago.

    Wish me luck! :-)

Zip tieing the bypass should do the tric.

    Question

NOS levels? Do you mean NOx levels?

I thought that there are no standards for what are permissable NOx levels anywhere in the US. Did they fail you for NOx emissions or CO emissions?

BTW, I just had my car smog tested in Illinois a few months back. They do I/M 240 testing here and it's pretty strict. They only test HC and CO emissions under various load conditions, not NOx.

I zip tied my bypass open, but that's not enough if you're running a high output pump which drives up the NA fuel pressure. In this case you've got to lower the fuel pressure a bit or the CO levels will go through the roof even during light acceleration.

My car sniffed within limits throughout the entire dyno run.

Run the octane booster, add a bottle of "guaranteed to pass", and take the car out on the freeway before you pull into the smog test station. That should do the trick.

You can do what Marc suggested or just go to a different place to get it done. I know they do things differently in every county, but when I was in Warren county those rednecks could give 2 sh*ts less.

you need to run lower octane so it burns up easier. and its easy to pass, as long as you got some connections wink

    Sjoback,

Higher octane fuel is "supposed" to offer a cleaner burn than lower octane fuel.

and i thought that the California has the worst smog testing stuff. i passed my integra on 10psi of boost plus 310injector. i did a 33% out of 100%, course anything past 100% of their legal limit would not pass. the point i am trying to make is that maybe there is something wrong with ur car.
